Each SMS encompass up to 160 ASCII code characters, excluding extended ASCII code characters. When you have a Unicode in your SMS, each SMS can no longer encompass 160 characters, it can only encompass up to 70 characters.

To prevent sending a Unicode code SMS (70 characters per SMS) when you want ASCII code SMS (160 characters per SMS). Compose your message in a plain text editor like NotePad (for Windows) or TextEdit (for Mac).
Take note of the numbers of characters left:
- For ASCII code SMS
- For Unicode code SMS
To view the SMS count for each message, go to:
- Message History > SMS Messages > Sent Items.
- For administrator, you can view it at “Application Message History > SMS Messages > Sent Items”.
- Click ‘Customize grid’, found at the bottom of the table.
- Under Column Options, ensure SMS Count is selected.
- Click Update and done!
